The Danish sensation has been consistently linked with a move away from Amsterdam Arena, but the 20-year-old has played down the talks by making it clear that he does not intends to leave the Eredivisie champions at the moment.
Ajax Amsterdam starlet, Christian Eriksen, has stressed that he can become a much better player while plying his trade at Amsterdam Arena rather than moving abroad.
The 20-year-old, who came through the ranks of the Amsterdammers fabled youth academy, has been consistently linked with a move away to join a top European club.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, AC Milan, Juventus and Bayern Munich all are rumoured to be taking keen interest in luring the Danish prodigy away from Amsterdam Arena in the upcoming January transfer window.
However, the technically gifted midfielder, who has thus far donned the jersey of De Joden in well over 50 games, has made it clear that he does not wants to leave the Eredivisie champions, while insisting that he intends to further develop his skills under
the tutelage of Frank de Boer at Amsterdam Arena.
“When I say I am happy with where I am, I mean that seriously. I feel that at Ajax I can still become a much better player. I do not want to be judged on what I can achieve, but based on my current performances. I still have plenty to learn at Ajax”, Eriksen
was quoted as saying to Ajax Life.
The Danish ace’s agent, Martin Schoots, has also revealed that his client will remain at Amsterdam Arena to further develop, while admitting that Liverpool’s interest in his client is a huge compliment.
“We can only say that it is a big compliment. But Chris is busy with Ajax and Denmark and he has very consciously chosen to be at Ajax and to develop”, Schoots said while talking to journalists.
Eriksen has an ongoing contract at Ajax that runs until the end of the 2013/14 season. However, reports indicate the Amsterdammers management will be offering the youngster a new contract in the coming weeks to prolong his stay at Amsterdam Arena.
