Bojan Krkic returns to full training but Jeffren out for Sunday

The Catalan boss Josep Guardiola decided to play an experimental team against a tough looking Russian side Rubin Kazan. The Spanish coach simply knew that his side were going to the next round with flying colours as they were to stay at the top of the points table no matter what the result was. Josep Guardiola decided to give the “European” experience to the young guns of Barcelona and 10 reserve team players featured during the game at Nou Camp.

It was a big night for the two young Spanish strikers who were given their first start of the UEFA Champions League this season and they were Bojan Krkic and Jeffren. Even though it was a big game for both of them, they were seen leaving the ground early during the game. It was Jeffren who received a knock from the Russian centre back and looked to have pulled something and couldn’t continue after only 7 minutes of game played. Later, he was joined by Bojan Krkic who got roughly tackled by a Russian full back and he couldn’t continue either and both the young strikers were taken off as Victor Vazquez and Marc Bartra saw themselves playing for the home side.

With Jeffren leaving the field it wasn’t much of a problem for Guardiola; however, with Bojan Krkic leaving the pitch, the Spanish coach did have a lot to think about. At the moment the Spanish side does not really have a lot of replacements for a centre forward and Bojan Krkic is the only one who can fill the space if David Villa needs a time-out. However, good news for Barcelona came out after the medical tests that none of the two injured players suffered from a long-term blow.

Bojan spent the night under observation in Barcelona Hospital but he was released soon afterwards and told to take a day’s rest. Now, after one day, Bojan can go back in training on Thursday even though the team is to train on Friday in their training ground known as Ciutat Esportiva.

On the other hand, the other injured young Spaniard Jeffren looks to be missing out on one match only; the Spanish La Liga fixture that is to take place on Sunday against Real Sociedad. However, Jeffren can start training with the rest of the team from next week. The young Spanish striker recently recovered from a shoulder injury and scored against Real Madrid and now he has to wait a few more days to return to the bench for his services.

With Bojan Krkic and Jeffren out for the time being, Guardiola trained with a 22 man squad. The team missed out on the injured Argentinean centre back; Gabriel Milito once again as he is still recovering from the tackle that he took three weeks ago against Ceuta. The 16 first team players did feature in the training ground; however, 6 Barcelona B players also played including Mino Menez, Marc Bartra, Jonathan Dos Santos, Miguel Fontas, Thiago Alacantara and Victor Vazquez.
