Blackburn Rovers interested in signing Ruud van Nistelrooy
Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy could be making a sensational return to the Premier League next season.
The new rich kids on the block, Blackburn Rovers have expressed an interest in the Dutchman, with manager Steve Kean recently revealing that the club is looking to sign Ruud van Nistelrooy once his contract with Hamburg expires.
Ever since Indian owners Venky’s took over the club earlier in the season, they have been trying to make a marquee signing to establish themselves as the new power in English football. Within a month of their arrival, they dismissed Sam Allardyce from his
position as Blackburn manager.
Steve Kean was appointed on a temporary basis, while the owners looked around for a high-profile manager to replace him, even going so far as to contact Argentinean legend Maradona to take over the reins of the club.
While their quest for a new coach may have been put on hold, Blackburn’s search for a big name player still goes on. The Indian owners made a huge bid to sign former FIFA World player of the year Ronaldinho a few months ago, but the Brazilian turned down
the offer to play in his homeland instead.
Now Blackburn Rovers have revealed that they are chasing former Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. During his time at Manchester United, the Dutchman was the most feared striker n the Premier League. Though he is far from his deadly best nowadays,
Nistelrooy is still more than capable of scoring should a chance present itself.
However, it seems unlikely that Rovers are targeting the Hamburg hitman for his skills alone. The club’s new owners have already stated that they will spare no expense in helping Blackburn climb up the Premier League standings - both in terms of position
and popularity - and signing a big name player like Ruud van Nistelrooy will go a long way towards helping their cause.
Van Nistelrooy has already made it clear that he has no intention of signing a new contract with Hamburg in the summer, so the striker could soon return to his old hunting grounds.
