Bernard Hopkins regains his WBC title and wants rematch with Chad Dawson – Boxing news

The Executioner, Bernard Hopkins, is desperate to have a rematch with the Bad, Chad Dawson, after the 46-year-old was given his World Boxing Council and Ring Magazine Light Heavyweight titles back yesterday, October 20.

Hopkins and Dawson met last Saturday on October 15, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California and their bout ended in controversy, as Dawson lifted Hopkins by his legs and threw him down to the canvas. The officiating referee instead of ruling it as a foul surprisingly awarded Dawson with a technical knockout victory.

However, now that the WBC and Ring Magazine have ruled it as a technical draw, Hopkins is desperate for a rematch as he wants to prove himself as a true champion.

Hopkins, who is a winner of 52 of his 61 professional fights (2 Draw, 1 no contest), with 32 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, recently wrote on his twitter page that he is very pleased by getting his titles back and now he wants to take on Dawson once again to show him his potential.

Hopkins, who underwent an MRI due to his injured left shoulder, also claimed if he gets another chance with Dawson he will outbox him.

“Thanks to the WBC and Ring Magazine for making the right decision, California State Athletic Commission will follow through and make it a no contest,” tweeted B-Hop.

“I want a rematch to prove I am the man and Chad Dawson ain’t s**t but a sucker! Chad talked all that s**t after the fight was stopped! I hit that ho with a body shot and heard the air come out of him!”

“For the non-believers, I stopped [Antwun] Echols December 2000 in Las Vegas after he did same thing Dawson did. A quitter? An actor? Come on I would be KO'd first,” Hopkins added.

Dawson’s promoter Gary Shaw already hinted they don’t want a rematch against Hopkins and if the WBC will force his fighter then they will relinquish the belt. Yet let’s see if Dawson agrees to fight Hopkins once again because Hopkins’ has been given with his titles back.
