Bangladesh v West Indies -West Indies in Bangladesh ODI Series - 4th ODI – Live Score and Update
West Indies 211 v Bangladesh 136 - West Indies won by 75 runs
West Indies, on the Friday, levelled the five-match ODI series when they won the penultimate contest by 75 runs against the hosts at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
After losing the first two games, the Windies have made a remarkable comeback to keep the series alive, as they now need to win the finale to go home with their heads held high.
Losing the opening games meant that the tourists would have to win the remaining three matches, and while this might have been a big ask for some teams, the Windies have shown that when they are focussed enough - nothing is too big for them.
With an emphatic win behind them, the Windies came to Mirpur in pursuit of glory, however, after being put into bat, they failed to post a mammoth score, as they ended with 211 runs on the board.
The openers CH Gayle and KOA Powell yielded 29 runs, before Gayle, who has had a troublesome tour, was dismissed by Mashrafe Mortaza after scoring 16 off 25.
Then with 71 on the board, the home side struck again when Elias Sunny had MN Samuels caught on 27.
DR Smith was unlucky today as he fell without opening his account, leaving the Windies standing on 75 runs.
The tourists then lost two quick wickets which reduced them to 79 for five, as they looked caught in a spot of bother.
This was the time when the hosts needed to maintain pressure in order to end the West Indies innings without much on the board.
While Bravo finished with 34 runs to his name, skipper DJG Sammy stayed unbeaten on 60 as West Indies managed to post a modest score on the board.
However, this target was - by no means – enough for West Indies to relax as an outstanding bowling and fielding was required to hold the home team from reaching the target.
The Windies bowlers wreaked havoc from the get go as they dismissed five batsmen with only 13 on the board.
The batting collapse was so severe that even Mahmudullah’s unbeaten 56 could not save the hosts from losing the match as they faltered on 136 runs.
