Bangladesh V West Indies – 1st ODI – Windies struggling at 100 for 4 after opting to bat first – Live Score and Match Update

West Indies skipper Darren Sammy won the toss and opted to bat first in the first One Day International of the five-match series, being played at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna today, November 30, 2012.

The tourists have modified their squad for the limited overs affair, moving Lendl Simmons up the order to open the innings alongside veteran talismanic Jamaican opener Chris Gayle. Devon Thomas will keep the wickets in the absence of regular wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin, who along with six other players has returned home after the 2-0 Test series win over the Bengali Tigers, earlier this week.

Experienced all-rounder Andre Russell comes back to the one-day fold, and so does frontline fast bowler Kemar Roach, who missed the two-Test series against Bangladesh duo to a knee injury.

On the other side of the coin, Bangladesh have handed ODI caps to four players. Off-spinner Sohag Gazi, who made an excellent start to his Test career in Mirpur earlier this month, picking up nine wickets, makes his ODI debut today. The other three debutants include batsmen Mominul Haque, Anamul Haque and right-arm medium pacer Abul Hasan, who made an impact on his Test debut in Khulna last week, scoring a sparkling century while batting at No. 10.

Debutant Sohag Gazi made an impressive start to his ODI career as well, accounting for danger men Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels quite early, to leave the tourists reeling at 100 for 4 at the end of 23 overs.

Gazi had Gayle caught at long-on by Tamim Iqbal on 35, in the 12th over, before he sent packing to in-form Samuels in his next over, on nought. Darren Bravo is not out on 34.

West Indies: 1 Chris Gayle, 2 Lendl Simmons, 3 Marlon Samuels, 4 Darren Bravo, 5 Kieron Pollard, 6 Darren Sammy (capt), 7 Devon Thomas (wk), 8 Andrew Russell, 9 Sunil Narine, 10 Kemar Roach, 11 Ravi Rampaul.

Bangladesh: 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Anamul Haque, 3 Naeem Islam, 4 Mushfiqur Rahim (capt and wk), 5 Mahmudullah, 6 Mominul Haque, 7 Nasir Hossain, 8 Mashrafe Mortaza, 9 Sohag Gazi, 10 Abul Hasan, 11 Abdur Razzak.
