Australia may become Pakistan’s next hunting ground – Cricket News Update

Pakistan is look at options where to play its home series against Australia. Currently they have not decided on the United Arab Emirates, where they have been playing their home series in recent months.

Pakistan is to play against Australia for a series comprising five One-Day Internationals and a solitary Twenty20 match. The conditions prevailing in UAE during the aforementioned months are not appropriate for cricket and thus Pakistan Cricket Board is in search of a new venue where they can host the matches.

A commendable source within PCB has revealed that the board is considering moving the series to Australia and talks are underway with Cricket Australia.

He said, “Unfortunately in August the weather is not suitable for cricket in UAE and it will also be the month of Ramazan.  That is why UAE is not an option for the Australia series. Holding the matches in Australia is a strong possibility but first we have to discuss things with Cricket Australia.”

Playing the series Down Under is not the only option available to the PCB. Apart from shifting the series to Australia, Pakistan may also choose between South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

The source did not turn down the possibility of moving the series to some other country. However, he said that PCB will consider the cost of hosting before deciding on which venue to select.

He said, “Yes South Africa has offered to host the series which may be extended to have more T20 matches because of this year's T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka. But we have to look mainly at the cost of hosting the series while deciding on the venues.”

UAE has been Pakistan’s favourite hunting ground over the last couple of years. The Men in Green have hosted most of their series in UAE, ever since other teams refused to tour Pakistan due to lack of security and the terror attack on the Sri Lankan team.

Pakistan cricket team is currently in UAE, hosting England. The Green Shirts have won the Test series and will now look to continue the momentum into the four match ODI series.
