The youngster spent last season on-loan at Paris FC and after getting a lot of experience, is keen on making a name for himself at Lille next season
The training centre of Ligue 1 giants LOSC Lille is perhaps one of the most efficient ones in France. The likes of Yohan Cabaye, Eden Hazard, Mathieu Debuchy and many others are a product of the excellent academy.
Today, the academy still boasts some of the best talents French football has to offer. One of those gems is France Under-20 international Arnaud Souquet. The 20-year-old has been touted for a great future ahead and is likely to be used wisely by Lille coach
Rudi Garcia next season.
Last season, the 20-year-old played for Paris FC in a season-long loan spell and his performances for them clearly mean that the young midfielder has a great future ahead of him.
Souquet started as a young hopeful at Vicennes and played for their youth teams until 2007. In the same year, he was snapped up by LOSC Lille who had identified the potential that lied within.
Before committing to Lille, the youngster was approached by the then Paris Saint-Germain president Alain Cayzac. However, Souquet’s father wanted him to complete his education first and thus rejected the chance of joining the Ile giants.
While talking about a successful season at Paris FC, Souquet says that Rudi Garcia wanted him to get maximum playing time and thus sent him to the club. What Garcia did not know was that the youngster would integrate perfectly in the Paris FC side.
“They were counting on me and I met expectations, it’s all good,” says that youngster who is now aiming to continue developing at Lille which is perhaps the best place for youngsters to hone their skills.
“I should extend my one-year contract. My ambition is to play and continue making progress and show LOSSC that they were right to trust me and giving me an extension.”
With the departure of Hazard to Chelsea, Rudi Garcia has ample amount of cash to look for a replacement. However, filling in the Belgian’s boots is going to take a massive effort and maybe, Souquet could do that if given the chance.
