Andy Bichel positive about Chennai’s hat-trick of IPL titles – Cricket News Update
Despite his side’s inconsistent performance so far in the tournament, the Chennai Super Kings bowling coach, Andy Bichel, is hopeful Dhoni and men can still win the ongoing fifth instalment of the Indian Premier League.
With just four wins in ten outings so far, the Chennai Super Kings looked anything but champions and need to win almost all of their ensuing six matches to strengthen their chances of making the knockout stage of IPL-V.
Speaking to the media reporters ahead of Super Kings' return-leg IPL match against bottom placed Deccan Chargers, Bichel admitted that the defending champions have been inconsistent in the tournament so far. However, he said that their team is good enough
to win the lucrative league for a third successive time .
“Winning three in a row is a high standard in IPL for us. It is a challenge for us. Ours is a good enough team to win this tournament," said the CSK bowling coach on the eve of their match against Deccan Chargers at home on Friday, May 4, 2012.
However, the 41-year-old former Australian medium pacer said that the biggest challenge the side is facing at the moment is to confirm a berth in the tournament finals.
"The challenge for us is to going in to the final and it is a hardest part,” said the Chennai bowling coach. “We faced few challenges on the way. There is always scope for improvement. We have shown improvement and they might be through to the final. We
have to concentrate on much of the tournament," he added further.
With most of the teams having played 10 matches in the tournament so far, MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings find themselves fifth on the points table, which is currently led by Delhi Daredevils, who have won 8 matches. While KKR and MI both have six wins each,
Knight Riders still find themselves ahead of Mumbai Indians with one washed out match as well. On the other hand, Punjab based Kings XI have shown a remarkable recovery, by climbing up to the 4th spot with a 50% victory ratio.
