Reports claim that Montpellier Herault striker, Olivier Giroud is under the radar of Italian Serie B side Torino who have been sending scouts to France regularly in order to sign the France international next summer
Montpellier Herault striker, Olivier Giroud is currently in the best form of his life. The Frenchman has already scored 15 goals in 21 Ligue 1 games and is the topscorer in the league so far. Furthermore, his deadly finishing skills have helped Montpellier
Herault compete with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Lyonnais and LOSC Lille for the Ligue 1 crown.
His prolific performances have certainly no gone unnoticed with reports linking him with moves to England, Spain and Italy.
According to Italian sports daily, Tuttosport, there are no big teams in Italy who are looking to sign the striker. However, the publication claims that Italian Serie B side, Torino have been regularly sending emissaries to Montpellier in order to asses
Giroud’s performances. The report further claim that Torino will make an official offer for the striker when the summer transfer window opens.
Currently, the Turin side is in 2nd place in the Serie B standings and are on the verge of rubbing shoulder with Italy’s elite once again.
And to celebrate this unlikely comeback in style, the Giampiero Ventura led side is keen on signing a big-name player in the summer transfer window. The challenge is attractive, but against other proposals, which will definitely come down knocking on Giroud’s
door, the Turin side might find it hard to convince the striker.
Furthermore, the Frenchman has already said that he might even consider staying at Montpellier if his side manages to qualify for Europe next season.
Currently, La Paillade are in second place in the Ligue 1 standings and if they continue with their terrific form both home and away, Rene Girard’s side could be well in line for a place in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Though Montpellier president, Loulou Nicollin does not want to sell Giroud, he has said that he will not stand in the striker’s way if a good offer comes in the summer transfer window.
