Amie’s Dini worked for the first at Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Oaks
The 3-year-old Lou Sutterfield, Mike D. Walker owned filly, Amie’s Dini finished second in both Kentucky Oaks primary prep races, and the Grade 1, $1 million Kentucky Oaks hopeful came out on the Churchill Downs track for the first time and on 22 April,
The Ronald E. Moquett trained filly, Amie’s Dini was ridden by jockey Jon Court, and the pair covered four furlongs in 50 2/5 seconds, as Jon Court will ride Amie’s Dini in the Kentucky Oaks on 4 May, 2012.
“I was very pleased with her work,” said Moquette. “I wanted a little something to keep her happy until it’s time to do her serious work next week.”
Jockey Jon Court has ridden the filly in her last five starts out of her 6 career starts, and posted two victories with three second place finishes.
The daughter of Bandini started her 2012 season with a second place finish in the six furlong long Dixie Belle Stake at Oaklawn Park to winner Now I Know on 14 January, 2012.
Staying at Oaklawn Park, Amie’s Dini stretched out in distance to 1 mile, won the Martha Washington Stakes convincingly, defeating her Dixie Belle Stakes tormentor Now I Know in second and Lulu Wong in third, with the winning time of 1 minute and 38.72 seconds
on 11 February, 2012.
In the two most important prep races for the Kentucky Oaks, the Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes and the Grade 2 Fantasy Stakes, Amie’s Dini was the second best.
She lost to On Fire Baby after an eye catching contest between the two fillies, but On Fire Baby took the 1 1/16 miles contest.
Amie’s Dini finished second to winner Mamma Kimbo in the Grade 2 Fantasy Stakes also at 1 1/16 miles on 11 April, 2012.
With a successful Oaklawn meet, Amie’s Dini has a record of 2 wins with 3 runner-up finished and a lone third place finish, and in the process she shot up her bank roll to $183,896.
“She’s always ready for a challenge,” said Moquette. “She’s more than willing to give her best. There are a lot of horses that never live up to their potential due to their lack of desire. But she’s a horse that will give you everything she’s got.”
