Aldair excited with Roma project and backs Luis Enrique to succeed: Serie A news
A.S Roma legend, Aldair, is excited with the new club project and is predicting a bright future for the Giallorossi.
Roma underwent a major overhaul in the club structure and wholesale changes were witnessed from boardroom staff to players. Former Barcelona B manager, Luis Enrique, was appointed as the new head coach at the Stadio Olimpico Rome
and the Spaniard was handed the task of implementing the Catalan philosophy at the club.
Several players were bought during the summer and the Giallorossi are slowly and steadily becoming successful in their project.
Aldair, who spent 13 years at Roma, is excited with the new project and believes that the philosophy is really tempting but it will need little patience from the stakeholders. The former Brazilian defender praised Enrique and believes
that he is an ideal person to lead the change. He added that despite being so young, the former Real Madrid star has come up with some very creative ideas and have signed the right type of players for the project.
Aldair said, “I really like the project. I think that this Roma just needs a bit of time because the squad is made up of some excellent elements. Luis Enrique is a young Coach, but he has some intriguing ideas. The fans just need
to have the right amount of patience because I’m sure that the results will arrive.”
The 45-year-old also commented on the upcoming Rome derby between Lazio and Roma and believes that it will be a mouth-watering game and tips the Giallorossi to win it.
“It will be a delicate and difficult game for both sides. Both go into the match in a good moment of form and they’ll both try to dominate the game. Obviously, though, I hope Roma end it as winners.”
The former Benfica star made more than 400 appearances for the Giallorossi and the capital club retired his shirt number in 2003.
The Derby de Capitale will be played at the Stadio Olimpico Rome on Sunday, October 16th, 2011.
