The Danish International will miss out Europa League clash against Manchester United and Eredivisie encounters against SBV Excelsior and Roda JC Kerkrade.
Ajax Amsterdam head coach, Frank de Boer, has to do without the services of Nicolai Boilesen in his side’s upcoming Europa League tie against Manchester United as well as Eredivisie encounters against SBV Excelsior and Roda JC Kerkrade.
The 20-year-old is a product of the Amsterdammers fabled youth academy, Jong Ajax, and started his professional career at Amsterdam Arena in the 2010/11 season. However, he only managed to make six Eredivisie appearances in his debut season, as Daley Blind
and Vurnon Anita remained ahead of him in the pecking order.
The young defender impressed his coach at the start of the ongoing season and was given a chance to shine in the opening matches of the campaign. Luck, however, wasn't on his side as he sustained a hamstring injury during his side’s 2-2 stalemate against
PSV Eindhoven in September 2011.
Boilesen returned to match action in the first-leg of Europa League encounter against Manchester United on Thursday, February 16, after remaining on the sidelines for almost five months. However, the Danish starlet complained about pain in the same hamstring
at the end of the match.
The 20-year-old missed his side’s 4-1 win over NEC Nijmegen on Sunday, February 19, to undergo a full scan that has revealed that the left-back will be on the sidelines for at least three weeks.
Ajax, who are currently occupying the sixth spot in the Eredivisie table, are already without many of their first-team players. Gregory van der Wiel, Eyong Enoh, Derk Boerrigter and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson are all sidelined due to various injuries.
Furthermore, Theo Janssen and Dmitry Bulykin are also major doubts for the upcoming Europa League encounter.
The Amsterdammers will lock horns against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men at Old Trafford in the return leg of Europe’s second tier competition on Thursday, February 23.
