A.S Roma sign Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic for €10m: Serie A news

According to reports in the Spanish media, Barcelona striker, Bojan Krkic, has signed for Italian outfit, A.S Roma, for a fee in the region of €10m (£8.8m).

Krkic has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou for some time now after finding first team opportunities hard to come by with the Catalan giants. Reports suggest that both clubs are expected to announce the deal after the ongoing European Under-21 Championships in Denmark.

Former Barcelona B manager, Luis Enrique, who is a huge admirer of Bojan, was recently appointed as the head coach of Roma. The 20-year-old spent his whole youth career under the guidance of Enrique and is now wanted by the Giallorossi.

Barcelona manager, Pep Guardiola, is also a huge admirer of the Spanish international and is believed to be reluctant in letting him leave the Camp Nou. However, Guardiola has failed to convince the attacker guaranteed first-team football, which has prompted him to look elsewhere. The Catalans are now resigned to lose their prized asset but it is believed that they will place a buy-back option in his contract, which will allow them the first right to sign the player if Roma put him in the transfer market.

Krkic emerged from the youth ranks of Barcelona in 2006 and since then he has made 185 appearances for the Catalan club and has also scored 51 goals thus far. The Spaniard is widely considered as the talent for the future due to similarities in playing style with Argentine and Barcelona sensation, Lionel Messi.

The 20-year-old has been used in bits and pieces throughout his career and has never been a first team regular. The attacker made 38 appearances in all competitions for the Spanish Champions in the recently concluded 2010/11 campaign and scored seven goals too. His impressive performances for the club have even earned him a national team cap, when he made his debut for Spain in an international friendly against Armenia in September 2008.

Krkic’s versatility of playing in an array of attacking positions will definitely help him adapt with Roma’s plans if the deal goes through.
