34th National Games: Haryana humiliate Assam 17-0 – Women’s Hockey Update
Haryana Women’s hockey team put in a tremendous performance as they comprehensively beat Assam 17-0 in the 34th National Games being held in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Haryana’s penalty specialist Kaur Jaspreet managed to score the opening goal in the opening two minutes of play for a 1-0 score.
Rampal Rani from Haryana scored the second goal in the 10th minute of the game. Kharb Mamta scored the third goal for Haryana during the 17th minute.
Kaur Surinder scored the fourth goal for Haryana from a penalty stroke in the 25th minute of the first half of play to take the lead to 4-0.
Both Jasjit Kaur and Kaur Surinder hit penalty corner strokes for Haryana. Assam floundered on the field as they struggled throughout the match.
Kaur Surinder was looking good to make seven goals in a single game as she dominated on the offence and managed to get on the inside of Assam’s defence. She hit a goal in the 32nd minute and also in the closing minutes of the first half to take
Haryana’s lead to a massive 8-0.
Assam was in total disarray as Haryana dominated them all over the field. Both Kaur Surinder and Rani Poonam scored goals within the first two minutes of the second half. For Assam, the second half was going to be worse than their first half of play. It
was Rampal Rani that made the 11th goal for Haryana.
Jasjit Kaur scored in the 52nd minute as Kaur Surinder hit a goal in the 55th minute and Dahiya Monika got one in the 58th minute of the match for Haryana. Assam was finished and was basically just going through the motions
on the field.
Three more goals were made in the last ten minutes of the match as Jasjit Kaur scored in the 60th minute and Rampal Rani got two goals in the 65th and 67th minutes to finish the game with a humiliating 17-0 score.
Haryana wiped the field with Assam and truly dominated the proceedings. The massive scoring on the part of Haryana showed their true hockey skills.
