2010 China Open: Semi-finalists (Men's Draw)

Four extremely talented professionals zipped through the initial few rounds of the 2010 China Open to make it through to the semi-finals of the championship.

It came as no surprise that the no. 1 seed, Serbia's Novak Djokovic, defeated Frenchman Gilles Simon to book a place for himself in the semi-finals of their draw. In a crisp two set match, Djokovic thrashed Simon 6-3 in the first set and 6-2 in the set to follow, to advance at the tournament. Djokovic will be opposed by America's John Isner in the semi-finals.

Russian Nikolay Davydenko was eliminated by wild card entrant, John Isner. After going nip and tuck in the first set, Davydenko and Isner wound up in a tie-breaker. The set nevertheless went in favour of the American, based upon his 7-6 win. Furthermore, John went on to take the second set 6-4, to make it through to the semi-finals.

Amongst the triumphant few was also Spain's David Ferrer. Seeded no. 3 at the tournament, Sweden's Robin Soderling lost a disappointing 2-6 in the first set and 4-6 in the second set, to be sent home. Ferrer will be facing Croatia's Ivan Ljubičić in the semi-finals of their draw. Ljubičić got through Britain's Andy Murray, beating him 6-3 and 6-2 in straight sets to make it through to the semi-finals.

Prior to his quarter-final win against Simon, Djokovic was put through to the next round, as his opponent, USA's Mardy Fish, pulled out of the tournament just a few hours before the match due to an injury.

However, Isner battled it out with Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber, in his second round match to advance. Isner got off to a good start defeating Kohlschreiber 7-6 in the first set, after winning a tie-breaker. The German rose in the second set, only to take it 6-3. Nonetheless, it was Isner that came out victorious as he took the deciding third set 6-3.

Earlier to making it through to the quarter-finals, Ferrer defeated China's Lu Yen-Hsun in a three set tussle. The Spaniard took the first set 6-3. However, Lu turned the tables on David, taking the second set 6-3. Nevertheless, Ferrer bagged the decider, based upon his 6-1 win. Furthermore, Ljubičić eliminated Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-3 and 7-6, two sets in a row, in the second round match played between the two.

With the top seeds in the semi-finals, one could expect action-packed matches and make their predictions at this point in time. However, taking the players' potential into consideration, both matches could go either way. In case of which - may the best man win.
